Playing Catch Up - September 22 - October 13 Events

Time is passing by in a flash. Its hard to believe that in just a few short weeks it will be November and soon after that, Christmas and then time to start a new year! Craziness... Even talking it one day at a time, time is still going way too fast.

Looks like it was about September 20 the last time I posted something (on my other blog), so let's catch up...

...but this furry bag of adorableness is just on turd away from being pooch-punted through the uprights!!! Don't get me wrong she is a wonderful dog, small, lazy and oh so cuddly! I have enjoyed her being with us. Most of the time, you hardly even know she is there until you walk into the kitchen or someone knocks at the door. It has been hilarious watching all of her crazy ways, like how she chases and snaps at the water coming out the garden hose or the way she slides sideways on the side of her face across the bed.  However...

Wow..It's been a while since my last post...I know...I've been slacking!!!!... Surprising, I haven't been totally goofing off though.

Lately, I have been playing with my NEW sewing machine: Brother 17-Stitch Free-Arm Sewing Machine, LX2500

It was a  late birthday present, that came right on time!!! THANKS STEWART! YOU'RE THE BEST!!!  It was not late by any fault of the giver. When I was asked what I wanted for my birthday, I honestly had no clue!!!...I didn't really need or want anything at the time...at least nothing that could be wrapped! ...So I asked could he give me a few weeks to make up my mind. Well my sewing machine made up my mind for me when decided it had had enough of my horrible unique sewing style and totally gave up in a complete metal break down!

Being a dog lover, myself, I can only imagine the pain and worrying Skittle's mommy went through when she was faced with not being able to take both her dogs with her when she moved.

Ma'Kayla and Jasmin  -  July 2012

Saturday night Jasmin brought her daddy to my house to watch the UFC fight. While he watched TV, Jasmin played with Ma'Kayla. They had a great time playing with blocks and building towers.

After the fight was over, everyone got up and left  to stretch their legs. It was just the girls and I left in the room. With all the open space they too decided to get up and let out some pent-up energy. They jumped, hopped and skipped around the room. They circled the coffee table a few times before they noticed I had a camera in my hand.

My baby girl made me a cake for my birthday...from stratch (how sweet) . I was wondering why she asked the baking questions. She did a really great job for her first time.

Re-purposing Empty Drawers

I have had these drawer collecting dust since I removed the spare bed out of my daughters room about a year ago. She had two beds that had storage drawers under the mattress. Since she no longer need two beds in her room, we decided to remove one. 


The frame was broken down and put into the attic but I didn't want to put the drawers up there too. I figured I could use them for extra storage in my bedroom. I ended up putting two under my bed.  One held a few pairs of shoes and the other papers, books and my laptop cords. The last one, I slid into the bottom of my closet and it held a bunch of odds and ends. They worked out great. 


Over the last few months, I have been organizing my craft area (which is in my bedroom). With all the things that I trashed or got rid of, it cleared up a lot of space. So much that the items that were in the three drawers were giving new homes else where. So now I was stuck with three empty drawers and no place to put them. I racked my brain to find them a new home. I still could not bring myself to putting them in the attic. Finally I had an idea....

So my new favorite website is Pinterest.  I find myself there all the time. It's a wonderful place to get ideas for almost anything you can think of. Some people are just so creative; I love it! Pinterest is where I find the idea to create this adorable flower bloom for my play-mom's birthday!

Frog Frame for Baby

One of my best friends is having her first baby in August. For her baby shower, I wanted to hand make her something special. Something that could be treasured for a long time. Something personalized,  just for her new baby boy. An idea came to me as I was walking through Micheal's, one of my favorite craft stores. While stumbling through the wood working aisle, I saw this "Do It Yourself" picture frame and thought, "PERFECT, I will make her a frame to put the baby's picture in over the years.

True Story...

A large group of teenagers take the train into the city with me this morning. Their matching bright green t-shirts tell me they are on a school field trip. Forty-five minutes after we take off, the conductor announces we are at our final destination.  Everyone loads off the train and heads towards the only entrance they allow you to use that dumps you into various parts of Union Station. We walk about twenty-five feet away from the front of the train. At this time the boy beside me is confronted by the same flight of stairs as everyone else that lead you up and out. At this very moment he blurts out, in complete confusion and utter disgust, “You mean we have to walk?”

I Wanna Be a BIG LOSER!

At the last minute, I have decided to join the Biggest Loser Competition here at my office. It's runs from May 1 to June 28. Ending just in time for me to look good for my birthday. At first when I saw the emails circulation through the agency, I said that I didn't want to do it. I'm not that over weight and I know this may sound silly but I didn't want to join and have people look at me funny!?!! Why would I think that!??! IDK...I said it was silly.

I Like Being Weird!

How Much Are Those Shoe In The Window!!??

Like most, woman I love shoes. I just hate shopping for shoes. It's so frustrating because they hardly ever have the cute styles in my size. And a lot of times  when they do, they are so uncomfortable that they hurt my feet within a few minutes, let alone trying to go the whole night in them.  

Sorry Fellas, I will NOT forgo comfort for style on a regular basis.

The Perfect Desktop Companion

Like a lot of people, I LOVE a nice hot cup of coffee to get my weekday mornings going. However I am the only one in my house that drinks coffee, so making a large pot is not worth the hassle, time or money. Even the small 4-cup pots tend to be a bit much for me. What I needed was a nice single-cup brewer without the huge price tag and I found it!

Unexpected Photo Opportunity

Get this, I'm in the middle of the woods lying on my stomach trying to take a picture of some wild berries. All of a sudden I hear the leaves rustle in the distant. I ask the guy with me, who is standing holding the reflector, "Did you hear that?" Of course he did not. Brush it off and  I go back to framing my shot, maybe it was just a squirrel.  But I hear it again. This time closer and louder.

Yup, I really suck at blogging... As if I have time or the memory to keep up. This time I only thought about blogging because I happen to run across a friend's blog and it reminded me that I have one... Sad I know!  But hey, such is life. I really don't have that much going on anyway that anyone wouold be interested in hearing about anyway. Maybe as the summer hits and I actually get out and do something, I will have more to blog about.  For now, its just these random, spur of the moments things that just keeps my poor site alive, if you can call this a "live" blog.  Well, lets be more positive in 2012. Something will come up that will be worth talking about. Until then,
